Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have previous knowledge in self defense?

No.  Although having prior knowledge may help you develop your techniques faster, it is not required to begin your journey at Easthampton TKD.

Is a uniform required?

A uniform is not required to begin your training, however it will be required when it is time to test for rank advancement.

Where can I get a uniform?

You can order one from Easthampton TKD, or you can purchase a uniform from your vendor of choice, as long as it is a plain white Tae Kwon Do or Karate uniform.

Does testing cost money?

No.  Testing is a privilege that is earned by each individual student when they are ready.  You will not be charged for the test.

How often do students test?

Every student learns at their own pace, therefore there is no set timeframe for a student to test.  A student will test when they are ready and have learned all the necessary requirements for their current belt level.

How long does it take to get a black belt?

Every student progresses at their own pace, therefore there is no set timeframe to achieve the rank of Black Belt.

Can I come in to observe a class?

Of course.  Stop in anytime during open hours to observe the class or to speak with someone about class.

Can I try class out before committing to signing up?

Yes.  The first class is always free to help you determine if the martial arts is right for you.

How can I sign up?

Just come in anytime during open hours.  You can sign up right away or try a free class.

What is learned in class?

Students start by learning the basic techniques used in self-defense.  They learn structured forms, teaching them the meaning behind the skills they are learning.  They also learn to work with others on self-defense drills so they learn how to use the skills they are developing.

Do you offer private lessons?

Sorry, but we do not offer private lessons at this time.
